The new EU vote marks a great change in the view the EU Parliament has towards e-cigarettes. The European Parliament voted against Amendment 71 of the Tobacco Products Directive which would see restricted sale of electronic cigarettes as they would be legislated as medical products.
And to be honest …we welcome the recent EU rejection to regulate e-cigarettes as medical devices. It basically means that e-liquid will NOT be classed as a medicine which is great news for all e-cigarette users. It means that strict regulations and taxes will not be placed on strengths and flavours …good news all round!
It also highlights a clear differentiation between this industry and that of pharmaceutical devices and we at multiCIG believe that this is another positive and well-reasoned step forward.
It’s great that the European Parliament has backed e-cigarettes to be available for sale on the same basis as tobacco and means that we can continue to help people who wish to switch to a viable alternative to smoking without inhaling harmful substances.
