Chancellor George Osborne has announced another increase to the duty on cigarettes. In today’s budget speech, he revealed that tobacco duty is to rise by 2% above inflation putting a packet of 20 cigarettes up by around 28p.
This price rise comes just one week after National No Smoking Day, tempting more smokers to kick the habit and save money. Switching to e-cigarettes can save smokers thousands of pounds and this announcement will only increase the amount that people can save.
