E-cigarette industry experts and business representatives from around the world gathered at London’s Royal Society to debate and discuss some of the hottest topics surrounding the use of electronic smoking devices. multiCIG attended the Summit on November 12th, and listened in to presentations from speakers including Tobacco Free Futures, Alette Addison from the Department of Health, Public Health England (PHE)’s Martin Dockrell and industry experts from across the globe such as Professor of Health Psychology at UCL Robert West, and Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos from Greece University of Patras’ Cardiac Surgery Centre.

Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) speaker Beryl Keeley produced information on the new notification scheme, which aims to ensure a minimum standard of safety and quality for all electronic smoking products, as overseen by the Tobacco Products Directive. By November 16th 2016 all existing products must submit details such as ingredients, toxicological data and nicotine dose for the notification scheme being implemented by the TPD. multiVAPE’s uniquely designed range of quality products, including the award winning e-liquids, are created and formulated with these criteria in mind. The e-liquids used in the multiVAPE range are exclusively manufactured in the UK using pharmaceutical grade ingredients to ensure they maintain the highest quality and standards.

The general consensus across the board was that research has shown that vaping and e-cigarette use is likely to be significantly less harmful than exposure to tobacco products. This will help to readdress a rise in the amount of consumers who incorrectly believe the effects of vaping and e-cigarette use to be the same as that of traditional cigarettes, and will contribute to creating a positive effect on tobacco harm reduction.
