This week, US researchers revealed that they have discovered that certain brands of e-cigarettes contain a harmful disease linked to lung damage.

Bronchiolitis obliterans, also known as “popcorn lung”, is found most commonly in those who worked in microwave popcorn factories, and causes scarring on the lung which can result in loss of function so severe that the only treatment option may be a lung transplant.

This condition is caused by the chemical Diacetyl, a buttery-tasting flavouring that is safe for digestion, but can cause complications if inhaled. Diacetyl was found in over half of the 51 flavours tested in the USA, and many fear that this would be similarly prevalent in UK e-cigarette market.

Whilst the study did not focus directly on the link between this particular lung disease and e-cigarette use, it does act to highlight the need for stricter regulations on e-cigarette and e-liquid content, something the TPD will help reinforce, which multiCIG fully supports

All multiVAPE e-liquids are British made with pharmaceutical grade nicotine, and all multiCIG and multiVAPE products are completely free from Diacetyl, as well as other black listed ingredients.
