Over the past week, a number of safety incidents involving e-cigarettes have been reported in the media. Like with any products, there are safety considerations that customers need to be aware of when using e-cigarettes. As we’re very safety conscious at multiCIG and want injuries and issues to be avoided, we thought we’d put together a bit of a rundown of all the safety tips to consider.

One of the leading causes for accidents with e-cigarettes is poorly made, sub-standard products that are being brought in from outside the EU. The implementation of the TPD in May will go a long way to help redress the range in product quality currently available on the market, but the best way to avoid any risks is to choose a brand that is produced in Britain to British Trading Standards.

Although there are reputable supplier and manufacturers outside of the UK, it is far harder to be sure of the level of testing foreign e-cigarettes have undergone before they hit the shelves. So please do make sure you’re using a quality brand.

Here are a few other top tips to get the best out of your device:

1. When e-liquid runs too low, you run the risk of dry burn, which will damage your device and present a fire risk, so make sure the clearomizer has enough liquid in for use.

2. Often it is the batteries within e-cigarettes that cause problems, and regular cleaning can go a long way to prevent any risks. Do this with a dry cotton bud, paying attention to the area that connects the battery to the clearomizer, as build-up can occur in this region.

3. Always use the specific charger for your e-cigarette, do not use other USB devices with a supplied charger, as these cables are used to charge higher voltage products and can cause overheating. Make sure you ONLY use the charger cable and plug that comes with your device.

4. Store e-cigs upright, away from water, direct sunlight, high or extremely low temperatures.

All multiCIG and multiVAPE products are made in the UK to the highest possible standards, and all our e-liquids contain pharmaceutical grade ingredients.
