A new report from the Royal College of Physicians has revealed e-cigarettes are contributing to the declining number of tobacco smokers in the UK.
The report also looks into the health implications of vaping, and findings have suggested not only are e-cigarettes “much safer” than traditional tobacco alternatives, the information also affirms that any fears that electronic alternatives were a potential gateway to a tobacco habit were “unfounded”, as the majority of e-cigarette users are ex or current smokers using the devices to help them cut down and stop consuming tobacco products.
The Department of Health have supported the new findings, stating “The best thing a smoker can do for their health is to quit smoking. We know that there are now over a million people who have completely replaced smoking with e-cigarettes and that the evidence indicates that they are significantly less harmful to health than smoking tobacco.”
E-cigarettes are now the most popular cessation aid used by adults in the UK looking to switch to a less harmful alternative.
